His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was present joined in prayer during the Poly-Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Saturday 27 May 2023, at the end of which a 40-day and one-year memorial, respectively, were held, for the repose of the souls of the ever-remembered Elder Metropolitan Ioakeim of Nicomedeia and Metropolitan Gennadios of Sasima.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon and co-celebrated by Their Eminences Metropolitan Apostolos of Miletus and Ioakeim of Bursa.
Also present for the Divine Liturgy were, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, as well as other Hiearchs, Their Eminences, Elder Metropolitan Dimitrios of Princes’ Islands, Metropolitan Irinaios of Myriophytos and Peristasis, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Myra, Metropolitan Theolyptos of Iconium, Metropolitan Evangelos of Sardes, Metropolitan Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Metropolitan Maximos and Selyvria, His Grace Bishop Benjamin of Tralleon, His Grace Bishop Smaragdos of Daphnousia, clergy, Monks and Nuns, Archons of the Great Church of Christ, family members of the blessed Metropolitan of Nicomedeia, faithful from the city of Constantinople and pilgrims from overseas.
Afterwards, a memorial reception was held, in the Throne Room of the Patriarchal House, during which His All-Holiness spoke, visibly moved, about the personalities, ministry and contribution of the two late Hierarchs of the Throne.
