The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania’s Metropolitan of Apollo-NI-a and Fieri, His Eminence Nikolaos, this week arrived at the historic Monastery of St Jovan Bigorski, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, which is located in the western part of the Republic of North Macedonia, a land-locked country that lies north of the northern Greek province of Macedonia.
His Eminence was warmly received by the Abbot of the Monastery, the Bishop of Antanias, His Grace Parthenios, along with elders of the monastic brotherhood.
The Metropolitan was given a guided tour of the monastery’s catholicon, or main cathedral, by the Elder Archimandrite Parthenios, followed by a discussion on timely and ecclesiastical issues.
Afterwards, Archimandrite Fr. Dositheos presented the most prominent and venerable relics preserved at monastery, including invaluable tomes of its library.
