The Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxoi and the Diapontian Islands, His Eminence Nektarios, on Friday, during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy for the recital of the Akathist Hymn (Unseated Hymn), reiterated the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece’s standing opposition to a proposal by the current government to decriminalize the offenses of insult to religion and against the deceased.
“This is a tragic example of the spiritual decline that we are experiencing as a nation… with the (proposed) abolition (of the specific criminal codes), this Greek society is being turned into a jungle,” Nektarios told the congregants.
