The Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Aghios Vlasios, His Eminence Ierotheos, the locum tenens of the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Akarnania, on Sunday officiated at the Holy Services of the Fifth Sunday of Lent – at the Cathedral of St. Demetrius in the town of Katohi.
In his sermon, His Eminence referred to St. Mary of Egypt, as on the Fifth Sunday of Lent the Orthodox Church commemorates the Righteous Mother Mary of Egypt.
The annual feast day of St. Mary of Egypt is April 1, however, she is also commemorated on this Sunday due to her recognition by the Church as an example of repentance for the faithful.
