On Saturday, 6 September 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos had the joy of welcoming His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea to the Holy Monastery of St. John the Forerunner at Atali-Bali.
The visiting hierarch was accompanied by the Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete, Archimandrite Bartholomew Vogiatzoglou, Archdeacon Porphyrios, and Ignatios, a theology student originally from Korea.
The Abbot of the Monastery and Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Archimandrite Parthenios Kalyvianakis, guided the distinguished guest and his entourage through the monastery grounds and its museum. A special prayer service was also held in the Katholikon for the missionary work of the Church.
Following the visit, the hierarchs and their delegations shared a meal at the monastery refectory.
Metropolitan Prodromos assured Metropolitan Ambrosios that the Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, through its Office of External Mission, will support the important missionary work being carried out in Korea, as well as the hopeful new pastoral initiative in Japan.
