More than 15 million citizens in Russia have sent information about relatives that served in the armed forces during World War II, known in the country as the Great Patriotic War. The purpose is to include the names in the new Cathedral of the Armed Forces.
Some three million rubles have already been used for the construction of the new Orthodox Cathedral, with fund-raising efforts continuing.
