Experts from Russia’s culture ministry arrived this week in Sofia, Bulgaria to assist in efforts to conserve the historic frescoes at the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the patriarchal church of the Patriarch of Bulgaria.
The delegation was dispatched to Sofia after a proposal by Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, who had visited Bulgaria last March.
The conservation works and other repairs at the cathedral are expected to last up to two years.
