The new Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidoforos, this week had his first contact with Greek Orthodox clergymen in the United States, addressing some 400 clerics via a video-conference.
According to a report in the expatriate newspaper The National Herald, the video conference lasted roughly an hour.
Active and retired Orthodox clerics heard the new Archbishop pledge to work with them, towards promoting the Church’s mission.
Among others, Elpidoforos said, “…I was especially eager to address you — the beloved and most respected clergy of our Holy Archdiocese, for you are the very heart of this vital eparchy of the Ecumenical Throne. I wanted to let you know, personally, that my heart and mind are deeply focused on your welfare, the welfare of your families, and your God-saved ministries on behalf of the people of God. I look forward getting to know all of you, as the militia of Christ that you already are, and as individuals as well…”
