Today marks the dour one-year anniversary of the beginning of a massive wildfire front that ravaged much of northern Evia island, which lies off the eastern central coast of mainland Greece.
Even amid the flames and smoke that engulfed the large area, miracles, by the Grace of God, were attested to.
One involved the miraculous preservation of the Monastery of St. David, near the town of Limni, which was spared destruction even as intense fires had surrounded the medieval complex.
The Abbot of the Monastery, the Elder Archimandrite Gabriel, speaking a few days later, during the great feast day of the Dormition of the Theotokos, referred to a wondrous miracle, thanking the Theotokos, the All-Holy Virgin Mary, for Her intercession, along with giving thanks to St. David and St. Jacob.
