The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Beatitude Theodoros II, speaking during an interview with Greek state television this week, referred to the reasons behind a suspension of the practice of commemorating the name of Russian Patriarch, His Holiness Kirill, in liturgies of Patriarchate-affiliated churches and services.
His Beatitude referred directly to an “intrusion” by the Russian Patriarchate into the Church of Alexandria’s ecclesiastical jurisdiction on the continent of Africa.
