The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Beatitude Theodoros II, expressed the love and vision of the Church of St. Mark for missionary work throughout the continent, speaking during his pastoral tour of Tanzania, and specifically within the boundaries of the Holy Diocese of Arusha.
On Thursday, His Beatitude officiated at the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Ascension at the Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Arusha.
After dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the Patriarch of Alexandria, accompanied by Metropolitan Daniel of Aksum and the resident Bishop Agathonikos of Arusha and Central Tanzania, performed a group baptism in the open-air bap-TI-stery of the specific cathedral.
Later in the day, His Beatitude visited an orphanage operated by the Church in Arusha, where he was warmly welcomed by staff and the hosted children.
