The Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, on Thursday received the visiting president of the Moldova Parliament, Igor Grosu, who was accompanied by Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă and other office-holders, at the Patriarchate’s see in Bucharest.
Talks focused on substantive ways to better support activities of the Metropolis of Bessarabia within the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The Patriarch of All Romania requested equal treatment for the Metropolis of Bessarabia in Moldova, allowing for instance, its clerics to serve as chaplains in the country’s military, correctional facilities and hospitals.
Additionally, His Beatitude reiterated a request that state authorities in the Republic of Moldova return the sites of the former Faculty of Orthodox Theology and the former Theological Seminary in Chisinau to the Church.
