The Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, on Wednesday welcomed the ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Marios Kountourides, to the Patriarchal residence.
The Cypriot envoy thanked His Beatitude for the warm welcome and conveyed a message of friendship and appreciation from the people of Cyprus, and especially from the newly enthroned Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus, His Beatitude Georgios III.
The ambassador further emphasized the strong historical bonds between the two Orthodox countries and their peoples, as well as between the two sister Churches.
During the discussion, Amb. Kountourides dutifully detailed the destruction of hundreds of churches in the Turkish-occupied areas of northern Cyprus.
