The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, this week received the Serbian ambassador to Bulgaria, Željko Jović, who briefed him on the situation in Bulgaria and bilateral relations between Belgrade and Sofia.
Afterwards, His Holiness received Israel’s ambassador to Serbia, Yahel Vilan, who congratulated him on his election to the throne of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The Serbian Patriarch underlined that the Serbian Church cultivates extremely good relations with all the Jewish communities in the region.
Finally, His Holiness received Italy’s ambassador in Belgrade, Carlo Lo Cascio, thanking the latter for the presence of Italian military units in Kosovo and Metohija, who keep the peace in the province and to guard Serbian Orthodox cathedrals and monasteries.
On his part, the Italian diplomat underlined that Rome has consistently backed dialogue as the means to solve problems in the western Balkans.
