A second equally historic archieratical Divine Liturgy was performed today by the Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Clement in the city of Skopje, with the resident Archbishop of Ohrid, His Beatitude Stefan, co-officiating.
The Patriarch of Serbia arrived in the capital of the Republic of North Macedonia at the invitation of the Primate of the Archbishopric of Ohrid, following this month’s decision by the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Patriarchate to renew eucharistic communion with the previously breakaway Church.

The Holy Synod of the Serbian Patriarchate made its decision following a landmark announcement by the Sacred and Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to recognize the Archbishopric of Ohrid as canonical.

The Republic of North Macedonia is a small land-locked country in the southern Balkans. It lies due north of the northern Greek province of Macedonia, which approximates to historical Macedonia of antiquity and occupies more than half of geographical Macedonia.
