The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, earlier this week received the visiting World Council of Churches acting Secretary General, Archpriest Ioan Sauca, in the Russian capital.
According to reports, the main topic of discussion focused on efforts to find peace for an end to the war in Ukraine.
Fr. Sauca, among others, called on the Primate of the Russian Church to condemn the war, adding that such a condemnation will greatly benefit the world and the Orthodox Church, adding that such a statement “…will make it clear what is your personal position to the war.”
In addition to a public meeting, the Russian Patriarch and Fr. Sauca held a private audience to discuss Orthodox matters.
In a related development, but in another corner of Europe, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, this week expressed his condolences over the deaths of Georgian combatants during the ongoing war in the Ukraine, following a Russian invasion last February.
