On the evening of Saturday, 29 November, the Community of Saint Dimitrios of Tatavla (Tataoula), in Constantinople, welcomed His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa, who is presently in Constantinople at the fraternal invitation of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The Patriarch of Alexandria is taking part—together with His Holiness Leo XIV, Pope of Rome—in the official celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the convening of the First Ecumenical Council (325–2025).
His Beatitude, accompanied by Their Eminences Metropolitan Georgios of Guinea and Metropolitan Nikodimos of Memphis, was received by His Eminence Metropolitan Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, Hierarchical Supervisor of the Tataoula Community, together with the Holy Clergy and the President of the Community, Mr George Theodoridis.
After venerating and being guided through the Church of Saint Dimitrios, the Patriarch and his entourage were escorted to the adjacent Community School, where an official dinner was offered in his honour. Present at the dinner were His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios of Arkadía, representing His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch; His Eminence Archbishop Nektarios of Anthidon, Commissioner of the Holy Sepulchre, representing His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem; His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Kydonia; His Grace Bishop Ambrosios of Eudokiada; and other distinguished guests.
During dessert, the Hierarchical Supervisor addressed the distinguished visitor with reverence, and the honoured Primate responded with warm words.
