On Sunday morning, 9 November 2025, on the feast of Saint Nektarios, Bishop of Pentapolis the Wonderworker, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in his birthplace, Silivri in Eastern Thrace, at the Acropolis of Silivri, presided over by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The Patriarch was warmly addressed by the local hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Maximos of Selyvria, to whom the Patriarch responded with fitting words of appreciation and blessing.
Among those present and concelebrating in prayer were hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, Archimandrite Alexios, Abbot of the Monastery of Xenophontos on Mount Athos, other clergy, the Civil Administrator of Mount Athos, Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis, and numerous faithful from Constantinople and Greece.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the dance groups of the Municipality of Silivri, the Cultural Association of Rizion (Evros), and the Pan-Asia Minor Association of Drama presented a cultural performance.
The Mayor of Silivri, Mr. Bora Balcıoğlu, warmly welcomed the Patriarch and the many pilgrims, expressing reverence before the spiritual greatness of Saint Nektarios.
At noon, Metropolitan Maximos of Selyvria hosted a luncheon in honour of His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch.
