With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, The Feast of the Synaxis of St John the Baptist was celebrated at the Holy Monastery of St John in Perth.
His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea officiated at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy which took place in the presence of the Greek Consul in Perth, Mrs Georgia Karasiotou.
Parishioners from all the various parishes around Perth gathered to give honour to the patron Saint of the holy monastery.
In His sermon, His Grace briefly spoke about Christ’s Nativity, Circumcision and Baptism and emphasised how in all these three salvific events we see Christ showing humility par excellence. In addition, His Grace also explained what exactly it is that we celebrate on the 7th of January.
Following the Divine Liturgy all the faithful were invited to stay for lite refreshments in the monastery refectory.
