An ecclesiastical process is underway on the eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus to select a new Metropolitan of Paphos, after the election and enthronement of Georgios III as the new Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus.
The election is expected to take place in late February, in a period after the two rounds of a presidential election on Cyprus are completed.
In a related development, Archbishop Georgios this week officiated at a Trisagion memorial service at the Makedonitissa Tomb military ceremony for the fallen of the independence struggle on the island republic and the barbaric Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.
