Approval has been given to a project to maintain, restore and digitalize a part of the historical archive of manuscripts, short films and miniatures of the Thessaloniki-based Institute of Patriarchal Studies and the Holy Royal Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Vlatades.

In a statement, Thessaloniki Deputy Regional Governor Voula Patoulidou stated that “…the archive of Vlatades contains rare texts and unique archives … A great effort is being made not to lose this material … Their digitization will allow their preservation, so that the whole world has access to them.”

The Institute was founded in 1965 by Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras, and is a Theological Scientific Foundation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
