On the morning of Wednesday, September 26 / October 9, 2024, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Holy Monastery of Saint Simeon in Katamon by His Eminence Archbishop Dimitrios of Lydda. After the Divine Liturgy, the Ninth-Day Memorial Service of Blessed Jonah Karousis was held by the Archbishops Dimitrios of Lydda and Aristarchos of Constantine, with the attendance in prayer of the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem Mr Dimitrios Angelosopoulos and friends and acquaintances of the Karousis Family.
On Wednesday, September 26 / October 8, 2024, H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos received the Consul of Spain in Jerusalem Mr Javier Gutiérrez.
To the diplomatic representative of Spain, His Holiness exposed the centuries-old pastoral, cultural, peacemaking and educational work of the Patriarchate, despite the ongoing hostilities, in its ecclesiastical jurisdiction in Israel, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority and the State of Qatar.
His Beatitude particularly underlined the Patriarchate’s efforts and contribution to preserving Jerusalem’s Christian character, especially in the Old City.
