The former Patriarch of Jerusalem Irinaios was laid to rest on his native island of Samos on Wednesday, with interment held at the Holy Monastery of the True Cross.
The former Patriarch reposed in the Lord this week at the age of 84.
An exodios funeral service was also held on Samos, officiated by the resident Metropolitan, His Eminence Eusevios, who represented the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, and the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece.
The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, upon learning of the passing of the late former Patriarch of Jerusalem, performed a Trisagion prayer service for the repose of his soul at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George, a day earlier on Tuesday.
Condolences were also issued by Orthodox Primates from around the world.
