Following the invitation of Archbishop of Mount Sinai and Raithu, His Eminence Damianos to His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, with which he was asked, according to the existing ecclesiastical status, to mediate and address the critical matter of the Holy Monastery of Sinai, His Beatitude responded positively and decided that it is appropriate and necessary to send a committee of representatives of the Patriarchate, to fulfill the mission of reconciliation and peaceful solution to the issue.
The three member committee of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, following the patriarchal order, arrived in Athens to fulfill the ecclesiastical mission.
The committee consists of:
– Archbishop of Constantini His Eminence Aristarchos, Chief Secretary of the Patriarchate.
-Archimandrite Ieronymos, Exarch of the Holy Sepulchre in Greece.
-Archimandrite Christodoulos, Secretary of the Holy Synod.
Together with the scientific support of Mr. Theodoros Giagkos, professor of canonical law at the School of Theology of the Aristotelean University of Thessaloniki.
The committee visited the Holy Metochion of the Holy Sepulchre in Athens, reminding that the starting point of every ecclesiastical dialogue is based on prayer, humbleness and faith.
The purpose of the committee is to reestablish the ecclesiastical communion, the reconciliation and the healing and the blessing of the holy institution of the Monastery, its Brotherhood and the testimony of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolical Church.
According to the word of Apostle Paul: “and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians, 5,18)
