The Vatopedi Brotherhood on Wednesday, amid an atmosphere of devoutness and deep emotion, conducted the Translation of the Relics of reposed Elder Joseph of Vatopedi, the spiritual father and mentor of the Brotherhood and a contemporary restorer of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos.
The Translation of the Relics came 12 years since the Elder Joseph’s Repose in the Lord.
The ritual of Translation was solemnly conducted by monks of the Brotherhood and the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi.
Also present were the Church of Cyprus’ Metropolitan of Limassol, His Most Reverend Athanasios, a spiritual offspring of the reposed Elder, the Church of Greece’s Metropolitan of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, His Eminence Ioustinos, the Abbot of the Monastery of Holy Simonos Petra, Elder Archimandrite Eliseos, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Gregoriou, Elder Archimandrite Christoforos, the First Supervisor, or Proto-Epistatis, of the semi-autonomous community of Mount Athos, Fr. Georgios of Vatopedi, as well as many other Athonite Fathers, priests, hieromonks and deacons.
