The spokesman for the Patriarchate of Romania, Vasile Banesku, in a wide-ranging press interview this week, again reiterated the Church’s position that a human’s foremost right is birth, a right he said eclipses the argument of self-determination and the right to choose, in referring to the sensitive issue of abortion.
The spokesman added “…the Church recommends and encourages the coming into the world of the human being, and offers constant support, through charitable organizations, to the future mother, who may find herself in a fragile and difficult situation.”
