The Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Irinej, over the weekend received Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, days after an assembly in breakaway Kosovo approved a “platform of dialogue” with Belgrade. The Serbian head of state also briefed the Serbian Patriarch over the situation in the province, whose secession is not recognized by Serbia.

Vučić arrived at the seat of the Serbian Patriarchate accompanied by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.

In statements to reporters afterwards, His Holiness Irinej said he was satisfied over the “good cooperation”, as he noted, between Church and state. He also underlined that the situation in Kosovo is becoming more difficult by the day.
