Still in the wider region, the historic monastery of Visoki Decani, in Kosovo and Metohija, has once again been targeted by ethnic Albanian mass media in the province, with the intent being to intimidate the monastery’s brotherhood, its Abbot, Archimandrite Savva, and by extension, the entire Serbian Orthodox Church.
In Belgrade, an announcement by the Serbian Patriarchate condemned what it called targeted attacks against the historic Holy Monastery, part of a concerted effort to threaten and drive away the ethnic Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija and to eliminate the millennia-old Serbian cultural and ecclesiastical legacy in the region.
