On the occasion of 500th anniversary of the birth of St. Filothei the Athenian, the patron saint of a same-name municipality in the greater Athens area, the ecclesiastical council of the Cathedral of St. Filothei is organizing a series of commemorative and devotional events next month.
Additionally, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, has approved a request for the Translation of the Holy Relic of St. Filothei, to be conveyed from the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, to the dedicated church in the Filothei district – for veneration by the faithful and clergy over a two-day period on Nov. 20 and 21.
