The “Way of the Saints” procession, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, was again held on Monday in Bucharest, as part of festivities dedicated to St. Demetrius the New, the Romanian capital’s patron saint.
Thousands of pilgrims marched through the streets of Bucharest carrying icons and the Holy Relics of saints, with the memory of St. Gregory Palamas particularly highlighted this year by the Romanian Church.
Two groups of clergy and believers left from the Patriarchal Cathedral and the New St. Spyridon Cathedral.
Another group conveyed the Holy Relics of Sts. Constantine and Helen and St. Nektarios.
The two groups converged with a Church of Greece delegation, conveying a fragment of the relics of St. Gregory Palamas to Bucharest.
The relics were solemnly welcomed at an outdoor altar by the Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, who greeted the Church of Greece delegation, led by the Metropolitan of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania, His Eminence Panteleimon.
