The inauguration of the St. Barnabas Cathedral in Nicosia, Cyprus, began on Thursday with an awards ceremony for the benefactors and donors of the new church.
The ceremony took place in the northern part of the courtyard of the Church, in the presence of the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, visiting Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, hierarchs, office-holders, state officials and many of the faithful.
After a modest reception, Archbishop Chrysostomos presided over a festal Vespers for the inauguration and the feast of the Founder of the Church of Cyprus, St. Barnabas.
