The annual Feast Day of Sts. Peter and Fevronia of Murom is commemorated on Monday, July 8 — known as the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness in Russia.
Considered the Orthodox patrons of marriage, the Russian Orthodox Church officially introduced their Feast Day in 2008, considered by many in the country as an antipode to the western St. Valentine’s day.
In a brief statement, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, said the example of Duke Peter and his wife, Fevronia, is one of “… boundless love between spouses”.
