A formal thanksgiving liturgy was held on the eastern Aegean island of Symi on March 7 to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Dodecanese islands’ union with the modern Greek state. The celebratory Church service was held at the True Cross Cathedral of Symi, officiated by the Metropolitan, His Eminence Chrysostomos.
A memorial service was held immediately afterwards for the fallen in the nation’s struggles for liberation, followed by a parade of local pupils.
