Today is also the feast day of newly canonized Sophrony the Athonite, Abbot of the Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of St John the Baptist, in Essex Great Britain.
Elder Sophrony was canonized as a saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church in 2019 with a decision by the Sacred and Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
