On Tuesday afternoon, 29 July 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, went, for the first time, to the celebrating Church of Apostle Silas in the settlement of the same name of the Parish of Damavolos, Mylopotamos, where he officiated at the Hierarchical Vespers.
Before the dismissal of Vespers, His Eminence referred to the life, testimony and mission of the Holy Apostle Silas, one of the Seventy Apostles, emphasising to the people the need for all of us to be honest and devoted in our mission. He welcomed the presence and participation of many children at the Vespers of the feast and thanked the Parish Priest, Fr. Ioannis Antonakakis, and the Church Council of the Parish.
Also, that same afternoon, His Eminence had the joy, accompanied by the Parish Priest Father Ioannis, to visit the unique, Agricultural stone building (metatum)-shaped, Holy Church of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Saints Constantine and Helen, in a wonderful landscape, where they were planning, with God’s help, the blessing of the doors and official Opening of the said Holy Church.
