On Saturday, July 27, 2025, or August 9, 2025, with all ecclesiastical splendour, the commemoration of the sacred martyrdom of Saint Panteleimon the Healer and Saint Cyril, Patriarch of Jerusalem, was celebrated at the Holy Monastery of Saint Panteleimon the Healer. Saint Panteleimon was the son of the pagan Eustorgios and the Christian Euboula, who instructed him in the sacred Scriptures. Having been trained in the art of medicine and originally named Pantoleon, he was baptised by the Priest Hermolaus with the name “Panteleimon” and healed without charge, proclaiming Christ. He also healed a man who was blind, giving him his sight; and when the man was asked who had healed him, he replied that it was Pantoleon. When summoned, Saint Panteleimon confessed Christ, and for this he was tortured and beheaded under Maximian in AD 305.

The Divine Liturgy was presided over, as also the Vespers on the preceding evening, by His Eminence Metropolitan Hesychios of Capitolias. Concelebrating at Vespers was the Elder Dragoman Archimandrite Matthew, and at the Divine Liturgy Archimandrite Philoumenos, Archimandrite Stephanos, the Priests Nektarios and Georgios, and the Archdeacon Mark, with the chanting of Hierodeacon Prodromos and the participation of a devout congregation of monks, nuns, and local faithful.

His Eminence addressed the devout congregation on the sacred life and martyrdom of Saint Panteleimon the Great Martyr and Healer.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude, our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos, accompanied by Holy Sepulchre Fathers, came to venerate.

The Patriarchal and Hierarchical entourage was hospitably refreshed by the Reverend Abbess Charitini, who diligently tends to the Monastery, assisted by nuns of the Patriarchate.
