With due monastic order and spiritual reverence, the Holy Monastery of Saints Augustine of Hippo and Seraphim of Sarov in Trikorfo, Phocis, celebrated its annual patronal feast day, honouring the memory of its patron saint, Augustine of Hippo, together with his mother, Monica of Hippo. A large number of faithful flocked to the monastery to honour the Saint and venerate the holy relics of the Saints, which had been set out for the blessing of the faithful.
The festal Vespers was presided over by the Abbot of the Monastery, Elder Nektarios Moulatsiotis, assisted by the monastery’s hieromonks and clergy of the Holy Metropolis of Phocis. Following the service, a solemn procession of the icon and relics of the Saint took place within the monastery grounds.
On the morning of the feast day, the festal Divine Liturgy was celebrated and presided over by the Abbot, with the participation of the hieromonks and clergy of the Holy Metropolis of Phocis. During both Vespers and the Divine Liturgy, the Abbot delivered spiritual reflections to the faithful, drawing upon the lived example and witness of Saint Augustine.
Both on the eve of the feast and on the feast day itself, the Abbess Monica of the Holy Monastery of Saints Nektarios and Fanourios attended prayerfully with members of her sisterhood, as she was celebrating her name day. In honour of the Saints, the monastery’s 62 bells rang joyfully during both the Vespers and the feast-day celebrations, filling the surrounding area with their majestic sound.
Also honouring the monastery’s feast with their presence were Archimandrite Gerasimos, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint George, the Mayor of Dorida, Dimitris Giannopoulos, municipal councillors, and the President of the Trikorfo Community.
The traditional monastic hospitality of the monastery’s brotherhood was once again exemplary. On both days of the celebrations, abundant monastic refreshments were offered to all pilgrims, sealing the spiritual joy and blessings of this great feast.
