Former President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr. Theodoros Roussopoulos, met with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Phanar on 3 June 2026.
The visit took place on the sidelines of the meetings of the Committee on Culture, Science, Education and Media of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which are being hosted in Constantinople.
According to a social media post by Theodoros Roussopoulos, he expressed his joy and honour at being received by the Ecumenical Patriarch. He was accompanied during the visit by his son, Vasilis, as well as members of his team.
The meeting provided an opportunity for cordial exchanges at the historic seat of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which continues to welcome representatives from political, academic, and cultural institutions from across Europe and beyond.
Roussopoulos thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch for the warm reception and highlighted the significance of visiting the Mother Church of Orthodoxy during his stay in Constantinople for the Council of Europe meetings.
