On the evening of Sunday, 21 June, His Eminence Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Parish Church of Saints Constantine and Helen (Hippodrome), on the anniversary of the devastating earthquake of 1978, during which thirty-seven of our brothers and sisters met a tragic death beneath the rubble of a nearby apartment building.
Before the dismissal, His Eminence Metropolitan Philotheos delivered the homily, reflecting on the Gospel reading appointed for the day.
Following the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the Hierarch, the concelebrating clergy, and the faithful proceeded to the site where the building once stood, where a Trisagion service was offered for the repose of the souls of the victims of the earthquake.
