Thousands of Serbian faithful marched through central Belgrade on Sunday, in a rally called by the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Before an address to the march’s participants, which also included Bishops, clergy and monks, the Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, held prayers at the St. Sava Cathedral in Belgrade. Afterwards, he warned against forces that want to “…desecrate the purity of the family by imposing anti-God and unnatural unions as a substitute for marriage and family.”
His Holiness also cited the very strong bonds of Orthodox tradition and the Gospels with the Serbian people, saying the former greatly influenced the identity of the nation.
