A tour agency, insolently called “Panaghia”, Greek for the Virgin Mary, or Theotokos, the Mother of Christ, is promoting what it calls “cooperation’ with a self-styled “Russian Orthodox Church of Northern Cyprus” to attract Russian tourists and Orthodox believers from Slavic countries for pilgrimages to the Turkish-occupied parts of Cyprus.
The report is posted on a website based in the Turkish Cypriot pseudo-state in the occupied territory, which is both illegally occupied by the Turkish military and only recognized by the occupying power.
In a bid to entice tourists and pilgrims, in fact, the agency uses an unscrupulous and false “pitch”, namely, that visiting the sites in occupied Cyprus “preserves and restores Orthodox Churches in North Cyprus
