One should not think about the doings of God when one's stomach is full; on a full stomach there can be no vision of the Divine mysteries.
So, go to Church, weep over your sins, await together with Her, with great fear the day of judgement. The Church continually thinks about the judgement: morning, day, and night; every day, early and late, the Church reminds Her children of this great day, which will decide the fate of the entire human race; and yet Her children are busy with thoughts of how pleasant is for them to turn their heads for a few minutes to cheer their hearts with the joys of earthly passions.
We forget that only the merciful shall obtain mercy for judgement is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Where are your deeds of mercy, when it is evident that you care only about yourselves?

Nu ar trebui să ne gândim la faptele lui Dumnezeu atunci când avem stomacul plin; pe stomacul plin nu putem avea viziunea misterelor divine.
Deci, du-te la Biserică, plânge pentru păcatele tale, așteaptă împreună cu Biserica, cu mare teamă, ziua judecății. Biserica se gândește continuu la judecată: dimineața, ziua și noaptea; în fiecare zi, devreme și târziu, Biserica le reamintește fiilor ei această zi grozavă, care va decide soarta întregii rase umane; și cu toate acestea, copiii Ei sunt ocupați cu gândurile lumești. Cât de plăcut este pentru ei să-și întoarcă capul câteva minute pentru a-și înveseli inima cu bucuriile patimilor pământești.
Uităm că numai milostivul va obține mila la judecată. Judecata de apoi este fără milă celui care nu a dat dovadă de milă. Unde sunt faptele voastre de milă, când este evident că vă pasă doar de voi înșivă?
