The Russian Orthodox Church today venerates the icon known as the Theotokos of Vladimirskaya, or, Our Lady of Vladimir.
The icon, depicting the Virgin and Child, was credited with saving a besieged Moscow from the Kazan Tatar hordes in the 16th century.
