The veneration of the Holy Icon of Our Lady Eleovrytissa, which dates from the 14th century and is located in the oil storeroom of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, took place on Friday at Monastery on the semi-autonomous monastic community of Mt. Athos.
The great vespers were observed on Thursday at Vatopedi’s Katholikon, the primary cathedral, based on the ancient Athonite ecclesiastical order.
The Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Konstamonitou, Elder Archimandrite Charalambos, presided at the service, following an invitation by the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Archimandrite Ephraim.
A Divine Liturgy for the Resurrection was held on Friday morning, presided by Elder Archimandrite Charalambos, and co-presided by Elder Archimandrite Ephraim other Athonite hierarchs.
