Greek correspondent in Egypt Nikolaos Katsikas passed away over the weekend in Cairo at the age of 57.
Katsikas was the correspondent of the Athens News Agency, Greek public television and Cypriot public television for the Mideast country.
The deceased, who held a degree in Byzantine music, served as the vice-president of the Greek Cultural Centre of Cairo, while in 2006 he was proclaimed as an Archon First Chanter by the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II.
In a statement to Greek public television, His Most Divine Beatitude recalled that the memorable journalist had for many years contributed to the enviable task of promoting Hellenism in Egypt, and was always present in community and ecclesiastical events.
