The Serbian Patriarchate’s historic Visoki Decani monastery in Kosovo and Metohija this week referred to insolence on the part of the Kosovo Albanian administration in the province towards the Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije.

In an announcement, the administration of the monastery also decried the “loud silence”, as it emphatically stated, of international representatives in Kosovo.

The monastery’s announcement states that on the day when most Christians in the world celebrated Christmas, the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the spiritual father of 10 million Christians was brazenly banned from entering Kosovo and Metohija to visit the historic monastery.

In a related development, Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias on Thursday spoke by phone with the Kosovo Albanian premier in the province, Albin Kurti. A foreign ministry post on Twitter said the focus of the phone contact was the latest developments in northern Kosovo, and efforts towards a de-escalation of tensions.
