Eighteen volunteers from the village of Selinari, in the eastern Crete prefecture of Lasithi, climbed three kilometers up rough terrain to carry a steel Cross weighing 120 kilos. Upon reaching the summit of a mountain located across from the Monastery of St. George, they replaced the worn-out Cross on the peak with the new Cross.
