Archbishop of America: Completion of St. Nicholas Church at Ground Zero within a year
The new Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidoforos, last week again promised that the Archdiocese aims to complete construction of the iconic St. Nicholas Orthodox Chapel in Manhattan within the year.

The project to rebuild the church, which was destroyed during the 9/11 attacks, has been beset by delays and financial problems for years.
On Friday, the oldest and biggest Greek-American organization in the United States, AHEPA, offered a one-million-dollar donation to rebuild St. Nicholas and a National Shrine at World Trade Center site.

AHEPA Supreme President George E. Loucas, and the chairman of the board, Nicholas A. Karacostas, presented the donation to Archbishop Elpidoforos during a relevant ceremony, held at the 97th annual assembly in Chicago.
