Bishop Irinej meets U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo and Ambassador Brownback
His Grace Bishop Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America met yesterday afternoon with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Ambassador for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback in Washington, DC.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second annual Ministerial Conference on Religious Freedom at the initiative of the State Department. Bishop Irinej availed himself of the opportunity to reaffirm to the Secretary of State the established positions of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the Church Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Dioceses in the United States, on matters of regional concern.
Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic also took part in the work of the Ministerial on Religious Freedom in Washington. His presentation may be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.
