Church today commemorates Feast Day of the Transfiguration of Christ – (VIDEO)

The Church today celebrates the Feast Day of the Transfiguration of Christ, one of the most significant dates on the Orthodox Christian calendar.

The Orthodoxia News Agency today has prepared a special video feature in which Archimandrite Elder Hilarion, the Abbot of the Monastery of the Transfiguration, on Mt. Tabor, in Israel’s Lower Galilee, where he refers to the Transfiguration, as well as the monastery’s history and course through the centuries.

Hilarion makes a particular reference to the annual miracle following an all-night vigil taking place until dawn on Aug. 6 and after a Divine Liturgy, when before thousands of faithful a Holy Cloud descends upon Mt. Tabor.

The cloud is at times so dense that visibility is limited to a mere two meters.
